Red Front Doors

Red front doors…. why so many? As I travel around Ireland I notice the huge upsurge of red front doors and now I believe it’s the latest trend in Dublin to go for either red or purple!

New age Feng Shui recommends that painting you door Red / Purple or Pink can bring you supportive energies in your career and that these colours represent recognition.  This is NOT true and in some cases these fire colours can trigger misfortune to the occupants of the house!

Reds / Purples are known in Authentic Feng Shui as the fire element.  If the location energy at the front door is any way negative then the use of these colours can enhance this negativity:

By adding these fire colours in 2013 to either of the following quadrants in your home:

  • Southwest - can trigger sickness.
  • West - can trigger problems related to the mouth, teeth or breasts.

People are of the belief that in China a lot of front doors are painted red.  When I was studying in Beijing, I noted very few houses with red doors!

Twice in every 9 years a negative visiting energy will hit everyone’s front door and the fire colours will enhance it’s negativity!

Good energy also visits our front doors and we need to know how to work these energies so that we can enhance the positive and reduce the negative influence.
I painted my log cabin door pink this year because my cabin sits in the North and my front door is in the south quadrant (it was built in 2008) The location energy at my cabins front door will favour the fire colour this year and in 2014.  In 2015 I will ensure that this colour is replaced with a colour that will support its location energies.  This does not mean that you have to change your front door colour every two years. You can go for a colour that will work every year, but it all depends on the location energies at your front door in order to pick the right colour!

To help you decide on the right colour for your front door (and if you cannot afford to get the energies checked by a Feng Shui Master) I would suggest you take a few pictures of your home and then using a photo shop package substitute in different colours until you get a colour that works for your home.

Your front door is the opening to your home and you want to feel good when you arrive home!

*Please note there are ways around diluting the negative impact of your red door besides replacing or repainting it.

  2. Yes, this is what I am saying! Reds or purple are not always the ideal colors to choose; there are many other layers to consider first.
